A film about a brave girl who made a fantastic dream come true (based on true events)

We are eager to tell the whole world about this magnificent method and our history.

But the world is vast, with many countries and languages. Therefore, we decided to make a short film without words, based on real events, where everything will be understood without words.

This film shows children and adults that their kind childhood dreams will come true if they put in enough effort and believe in their good cause.

The heroine of the film, a little girl and future neurosurgeon Rezida Galimova, helped restore her father’s health, who couldn’t teach her to draw due to tremor. We named this film Spiral.

The spiral is a test well known to those with Parkinson’s. They draw spirals so the doctor can determine how much their hands are shaking. Additionally, the spiral is a symbol of development. The handwritten spiral in the artist’s painting connected the past, present, and future of the film’s heroine.

The main reason for creating our Center, the primary motivation of its director and neurosurgeon Rezida Galimova, and indeed the entire team, is humanism – this is what we tried to convey to the viewers of the film “Spiral”.

Movie idea

Ideas of humanism and the importance of their expression in creativity served as the foundation for my choice of university. Akira Kurosawa said that when a person dreams, they are a genius. Film “Spiral ” – my student work. It tells the story of an eight-year-old daughter of an artist suffering from tremor. The girl, inspired by science fiction, brings her dreams of healing her father to life – without blood and surgical incisions.

The film is based on real events and tells the story of my beloved wife, who, from the very beginning of her acquaintance with neurosurgery, believed that there was one wrong aspect in surgery: to fix a small problem deep in the human brain, it was necessary to reach that area, causing even greater damage. In search of more gentle methods, Rezida finally found a technology that allows surgery to be performed without any incisions. After learning this, she brought the technique to Russia and opened the first Center in Russia where such treatment can be conducted.

In my opinion, it is important to instill in children the belief that their good dreams will come true if they believe and pursue them persistently enough. I also wish that people with tremor knew that they can be helped right now.

Time Spiral

I intentionally connected time in a spiral through the painting and slightly disrupted the linearity of time to show that the future, present, and past are interconnected in the realization of the noble goals that humanity has been pursuing throughout its existence.

This is my first student film, but during the filming process, I applied the same approach I always use in my management life – I try to give my team members the opportunity to fully express themselves independently. I was warned that making a film with a child in the lead role could be very challenging. But the star of this film, Aylin Askarova, is an amazingly perceptive girl. She didn’t need to be told what to do; it was enough to simply tell her the story and ask how she would act in that situation. The music for the film was composed by pianist and composer Ruslan Vorotnikov, whose irony and storytelling style helped further reveal the film’s content.

It is important to me that the result of an artist’s work is the healing of society and the formation of good human values, and I hope that my experience, embodied in this film, will serve these goals.
