Preparation for Colonoscopy (FCS) with MOVIPREP

Begin bowel cleansing with a single dose of the drug DUPHALAC. After 4 hours, you can start cleansing with the drug Moviprep.

You have been scheduled for an endoscopic examination of the intestines (FCS). Part of the responsibility for the effective conduct of the examination also lies with you, as you need to adequately prepare your intestines for endoscopy. Bowel preparation is one of the most important factors for the successful conduct of an endoscopic examination, resulting in an accurate diagnosis and  prescription of appropriate treatment

To ensure proper bowel preparation, you need to meet the following conditions:

Important! 3-day adherence to a low-residue diet.

Cannot!  Black bread, fresh fruits and vegetables, greens, beans and peas, mushrooms, berries, seeds, nuts, jam with seeds, including small ones (currant and raspberry), grapes, kiwi (in any form). Do not take activated charcoal and iron-containing medications!

Sure!  broth, boiled meat, fish, chicken, cheese, white bread, butter, cookies

If you suffer from constipation, you are allowed to take laxatives that usually help you or consult a doctor.

Important!  We recommend abstaining from food intake 24 hours before the examination. It is allowed to drink boiled water with the addition of  osvetlennogo  apple or grape juice!

 I stage of taking the drug “Moviprep” — the day before the examination:  prepare 1 liter of the solution  «Moviprep , dissolving in 1 liter of water two packets – one small and one large. The liter of prepared solution is consumed gradually from 18:00 to 19:00 over the course of an hour. Every 10 minutes, a glass (not all at once!). Then from 19:00 to 20:00, you need to drink 1 liter of liquid (for example, boiled or non-carbonated mineral water   750ml – 3 glasses + clarified apple or grape juice 250 ml – 1 glass without pulp!). 1-3 hours after starting to take the solution  «Moviprep  frequent, abundant, liquid stools should appear, which will contribute to complete bowel cleansing

II stage of taking “Moviprep” – II stage of taking the drug “Moviprep” — during the day   research  prepare 1 liter of the solution  «Moviprep , dissolving two packets in 1 liter of water beforehand – one small and one large. This liter is consumed gradually from 06:00 to 07:00 over the course of an hour. Every 10 minutes, a glass. From 07:00 to 08:00, you need to drink 1 liter of liquid (boiled or mineral water without gas, 3 glasses + clarified apple or grape juice, 1 glass without pulp!). Then, over the course of 1-3 hours, the final bowel cleansing occurs.

Approximately 15-20 minutes  before the procedure, we recommend taking an antispasmodic (“Drotaverine” 2 tablets), then “Espumizan” 40+40 mg (2 capsules), if these medications are purchased at the pharmacy

Important! The intake of the last portion of “Moviprep” must be completed 4 hours before the start of the examination.
Please have with you   outpatient card, X-rays of the intestines (if available!), referral, and clean socks.

Preparation for Colonoscopy (FCS)
with the drug FORTRANS

Start bowel cleansing with a single dose of the drug DUPHALAC. After 4 hours, you can begin cleansing with the drug Fortrans.

You are scheduled for an endoscopic bowel examination (FCS) in the first half of the day (from morning until 12:30). Part of the responsibility for the effective conduct of the examination also lies with you, as you need to properly prepare your bowel for the endoscopy. Bowel preparation is one of the most important factors for the successful conduct of the endoscopic examination, resulting in an accurate diagnosis and  prescription of appropriate treatment

To properly prepare your intestines, you need to meet the following conditions:

19:00 – 20:00 Take 1 liter of “Fortrans” (1 glass every 15 minutes)

21:00  We recommend taking the medication “Espumisan” syrup, 3 doses (spoons), to reduce gas formation in the intestines, if this medicine has been purchased.

1-3 hours after starting to take the “Fortrans” solution, frequent, abundant, liquid stools should occur, which will help to completely cleanse the intestines. During the intake of Fortrans, we do not recommend lying down or sitting for long periods.

II stage of taking “Fortrans” – on the day of the examination: dissolve 1 packet of Fortrans in 1.0 liter of boiled water + another packet of Fortrans in another 1.0 liter (a total of two containers of 1.0 liter each)

5:30 – 6:30 Take 1 liter of “Fortrans” (1 glass every 15 minutes)

6:30 — 7:30 Take 1 liter of “Fortrans” (1 glass every 15 minutes)

7:30 Take “Espumisan” syrup 3 doses (spoons)

Approximately 15-20 minutes  before the procedure, we recommend taking an antispasmodic (“Dicetel” 1 tablet or “Drotaverine” 2 tablets), then “Espumisan” syrup 3 doses (spoons), if these medications are purchased at the pharmacy

Important! The intake of the last portion of “Fortrans” must be completed 4 hours before the start of the examination.
Now   You are prepared for a fibrocolonoscopy! Please have with you an outpatient card, intestinal X-rays (if available!), a referral, and clean socks.

Preparation for EGD

Proper preparation for a gastroscopy includes following a diet, fasting before the procedure, and mental preparation. Let’s go through everything step by step:

Diet for Preparing for Gastroscopy

Two days before the diagnosis, it is recommended to limit heavy and gas-producing foods. You should exclude from your diet:

  • Alcoholic beverages
  • шоколад;
  • spicy food;
  • nuts;
  • fatty meat
  • lentils, peas, etc.
  • mushrooms;
  • fast food
  • Smoked meats
  • etc.

Heavy food can prevent the stomach from clearing properly, which will worsen the results of the study (you probably won’t want to undergo the procedure again).

What can you eat when preparing for a gastroscopy?

You need to consume foods that are easily digestible, such as:

  • boiled chicken breast
  • lean fish
  • buckwheat or rice
  • light soups
  • eggs;
  • fermented dairy products (low-fat)
  • Vegetables after thermal processing

How many hours before an EGD should you not eat?

The last meal should be 10-12 hours before the diagnosis, so when preparing for an EGD of the stomach in the first half of the day (and usually the appointment is scheduled for the morning), it is better to have dinner about 3-4 hours before sleep.

When preparing for an EGD in the afternoon, you should still maintain an interval of 10-12 hours, so plan the timing of your last meal accordingly (it may be early in the morning).

Can I drink water before an EGD?

You can drink water up to two hours before the procedure. Strong tea, coffee, and carbonated drinks should be avoided.

How long after an endoscopy can you eat?

You can eat after two hours. We recommend having light food on the day of the examination.

What else should not be done before an EGD:

  • smoke
  • take medication
  • chew gum;
  • brush your teeth (paste may get inside and cause irritation)
  • it’s not advisable to undergo an endoscopy if you’re feeling unwell (runny nose, fever – it’s better to wait until recovery)
  • FGDS should not be performed in cases of laryngitis, pharyngitis, tracheitis (the swelling of the mucous membrane interferes, making it sensitive to mechanical impact from the endoscope)

You should also inform the doctor if you have chronic conditions, allergies to medications, and difficulties with nasal breathing.
