The first charity run in Russia on World Parkinson’s Disease Day.

Every year on April 11, World Parkinson’s Disease Day is celebrated globally, accompanied by sports events. As the first medical center in Russia providing unique medical assistance to these patients using focused ultrasound, the Intelligent Neurosurgery Clinic acted as the initiator and co-organizer of the First All-Russian Charity Marathon in support of patients with Parkinson’s disease, held on April 11, 2021, in Ufa.

Charity Marathon in Ufa Helped Raise Funds for Theater Artist’s Surgery

Galimov Damir Mazitovich – Honored Worker of Culture of the Russian Federation (1994) and BASSR (1981), Honored Art Worker of the Republic of Bashkortostan (2004), member of the Union of Theater Workers (1970), was born on April 24, 1944, in the village of Tubinsk, Baymaksky District, Bashkir ASSR.

Damir Mazitovich graduated from the Higher Professional School of Culture (Leningrad) in 1966 and the Russian Institute for the Retraining of Art and Culture Workers (Moscow, M.M. Novokhizhin’s course) in 1994.

Damir Mazitovich led and was the artistic director of the Sibay State Bashkir Drama Theater named after A. Mubaryakov from 1987 to 2019.
Under his sensitive guidance, masterpieces such as “Kodasa” by Bayazit Bikbay and Zagir Ismagilov, “The Magic Kurai” by Zainab Biisheva, “Shoes” by Khabibulla Ibragimov, “Kazan Towel” by Kamil Tinchurin, “Tamaris” by Tamara Ganieva, “Oh, Friend Baytimer” by Ralif Kinzyaev, “Don’t Fly Away, Cranes” by Tansulpan Garipova, “Bachelors” by Florid Bulyakov, “More Than Love” by Gazim Shafikov, “The Girl in Love” by Najib Asanbaev, “On the Night of the Lunar Eclipse” by Mustai Karim were staged. Galimov’s artistic method is rooted in the poetics of folk art. The director’s scores of the performances often include elements of folk festivals and rituals, adding metaphorical depth to the stage works.

The performances directed by the director are in demand by audiences and receive high praise from theater critics and the press. According to the theater’s literary department, in the past three years alone, these performances have been attended by over 100,000 spectators in the republic and regions of Russia.

Damir Galimov carefully nurtures young artists in the traditions of the Sibay Bashkir Drama Theater’s acting school and supports young playwrights.

Damir Galimov is a member of the Council of Elders of the city of Sibay. He has been repeatedly awarded Certificates of Honor by the Ministry of Culture of Bashkortostan for his contribution to the development of the culture and arts of the republic.

Unfortunately, several years ago, Damir Mazitovich was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, which manifests as tremor in the hands and legs, and stiffness. Despite the disease, he continues to work, but every day can be compared to a fight in the ring. Performing MRI-guideded focused ultrasound at the V.S. Buzaev International Medical Centre will help alleviate the symptoms of the disease and allow him to return to his beloved work fully.

Damir Mazitovich dreams of staging a play he has dreamed of for many years. It will be about piercing love, fleeting youth, and the great power of friendship that overcomes distance, pain, and illness!
