This is a story about not giving in
Act with faith in the best, and you will find a way to return to what you love, such as the ability to care for your family.
A young man, 32 years old, lives in a cozy town by the sea with his lovely wife Irina and their 8-year-old son. They had a calm, happy life until a few years ago when he noticed a strange tension in the muscles of his neck. “It felt like childhood, when you stay under the sun for a long time, and your shoulders seem to burn “, — that’s how he described his first symptoms
Over time, his condition worsened: his head began to involuntarily turn to the left. Working as a truck driver, he thought it was related to constant tension and the need to look in the side mirror. At first, he tried to manage it with willpower, but soon his head remained constantly turned, making his work almost impossible.
After consulting a neurologist, he heard the diagnosis — cervical dystonia. Courses of botulinum therapy did not bring the desired relief. But he did not give up. Instead of resigning, he began actively seeking information, studying the experiences of other patients, and believing that a solution existed. On one of the forums, he learned about treatment with focused ultrasound, which helped many.
This discovery marked the beginning of his path to recovery. He turned to the V.S. Buzaev International Medical Centre, where he underwent consultation and preparation. On October 29, 2024, his life changed. The treatment was successful, and the results exceeded expectations. His condition improved, his head straightened, and with it returned the confidence and ability to look at the world directly, without limitations, allowing him to return to his favorite work.
This is just one of many inspiring examples of how research changes people’s lives and expands horizons in the treatment of complex diseases.
We are proud to be leaders in implementing the latest technologies and ideas, offering our patients the most advanced and effective solutions. We don’t just treat — we restore people’s freedom of movement, confidence, and quality of life.
For those interested in research, below is a chart that clearly demonstrates the treatment results of the first patients. One of the objective criteria for the severity of movement disorders is the scale TWSTRS: the higher the scores, the more severe the patient’s condition
On the graph, you see green dots on the left, which show the condition of patients before treatment with MRgFUS. On the right is their condition after treatment with focused ultrasound. The lines connect the indicators of each patient, and the rectangle with a line displays the median and quartiles. These data speak for themselves: statistically significant improvements are observed after treatment ( p=0.0025).
We officially published the results of treating dystonia with focused ultrasound in a peer-reviewed research journal (Galimova, R. M. et al. 2024: MRI-guided focused ultrasound in the treatment of cervical dystonia. Annals of Clinical and Experimental Neurology), here you can find the monograph “MRI-guided focused ultrasound in neurology” (Galimova R.M. et al., 2024) and Rezida Maratovna Galimova’s doctoral dissertation
