New Opportunities in Treating Head Tremor

The buzaevclinic team not only treats tremor. At the V.S. Buzaev International Medical Centre®, we conduct research and develop new devices to help those who are particularly difficult to assist.

One of the challenges in treating movement disorders is head tremor, which is very difficult to treat with MRgFUS because the head is fixed in a helmet.

We have developed a new medical device that helps detect head tremor (shaking, twitching) during MRgFUS procedures. Typically, during MRI-guided focused ultrasound treatment, the head is fixed to a helmet, making it nearly impossible to assess the severity of head tremor to monitor the effectiveness of the procedure.

We have managed to develop a sensor that can be used with an MRI scanner, overcoming the restriction on the use of metal and electronics in the MRI room.

Our engineers have created a special MRI-compatible sensor that attaches to the helmet of the MRgFUS device. This sensor can detect and record even the slightest head movements.

Instead of electronics, we use light signals transmitted through optical fibers outside the MRI room for measuring and computer visualization of head movements.

Thanks to this device, unlike other centers, we will be able to effectively treat not only hand tremor but also head tremor using MRgFUS, ensuring high treatment accuracy with an objective method of assessing tremor during the procedure.

Our device opens up new treatment possibilities for patients suffering from head tremor, providing them access to a more effective and safer treatment method.
