Why We Created the V.S. Buzaev Award
Hello, friends! My name is Igor Buzaev, and I want to tell you about the award we established in honor of my father, Vyacheslav Stepanovich Buzaev.
Dad was a true pioneer in the world of cardiac surgery, performing open-heart surgeries with chest incisions. In the 1980s, when interventional radiology emerged, he became the first in Belarus to perform endovascular surgeries. Thanks to his work, we now know about stenting and other modern treatment methods.
Following in our father’s footsteps, we decided to introduce new non-invasive technologies in Russia and name our center after him.
This year marks 50 years since our family began treating people. In honor of this event, we have established a scholarship to support the most talented students who wish to follow in the footsteps of great doctors.
This year, we are funding residencies for the best of the best: a neurologist, a neurosurgeon, and two MRI specialists. Our fellows are future leaders in medicine who are already creating innovations today.
Together with them, we will create non-invasive, humane, and accurate medicine, solve diagnostic puzzles, engage in research, and provide education.
