How Innovations Are Changing Medicine for Parkinson’s Disease

In our quest to improve the quality of life for patients aiming to overcome the physical limitations of Parkinson’s disease, we successfully apply MRI-guided focused ultrasound. Each case is not just treatment but a transformation of the patient’s life, as demonstrated by our recent experience.

Step by Step to Freedom of Movement

In two hours, without blood and the need for anesthesia, we eliminated the patient’s tremor and stiffness, allowing him to write and return to an important beloved activity in life – management!

Our patient, who had long suffered from tremor and stiffness in the left hand, managed to get rid of these symptoms in just 160 minutes of the procedure!

This became possible thanks to our developments in the field of focused ultrasound, which allowed us to reduce symptoms by more than 80% after the first treatment.

Further sessions allowed for the elimination of residual tremor and restored the patient’s ability to confidently sign with their own hand.

Patient History

The patient had been suffering from Parkinson’s disease since 2017 and, being left-handed, experienced significant difficulties with writing. It was critically important for him to eliminate the tremor to be able to sign freely—an important part of his professional life as a project manager. Our innovations allowed him to achieve this desire, and now he leads an active life without symptoms.

The patient has been ill since 2017, with the disease starting with stiffness in the fingers of the left hand, later developing into severe tremor. The patient is left-handed and could not write. He consulted a neurologist and was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. The treatment was ineffective; to achieve even a slight reduction in tremor, he took 8 tablets of 250 mg levodopa. After a year, dyskinesias developed as a complication of the medication.

At that very moment, he was appointed as the project manager and had to sign a lot.

When he arrived at the V.S. Buzaev International Medical Centre, to the question: “what is the greatest pleasure he would experience without tremor and dyskinesias? ” he replied: “I want to sign the logbook at the entrance myself without hesitation “.

We performed the treatment on June 19, 2024, with a duration of 160 minutes. After the treatment, there is no tremor, stiffness, slowness, or dyskinesia UPDRS III part before treatment 64 – > 34 after treatment.

Last examination on December 09, 2024 (in 6 months): Condition is good, no return of symptoms. Takes 3-4 tablets of levodopa, no dyskinesias. The entire month after treatment, couldn’t stop and signed everything.

Video story about how in two hours, without blood and anesthesia, we eliminated a patient’s tremor and stiffness: he was able to write and return to his favorite activity in life—working as a manager! The video is posted with the patient’s written consent. There are indications and contraindications for treatment, requiring consultation with a neurologist and neurosurgeon.
