How to prepare for an MRI of the kidneys and adrenal glands in our centre?
For 2-3 days, exclude gas-producing foods from your diet (legumes, black bread, carbonated drinks, fruits, vegetables). Refrain from eating 2-3 hours before the examination if the use of a contrast agent is planned.
How to prepare for an MRI of the abdominal organs, MRI of the bile ducts (MRCP, MR cholangiopancreatography) in our centre?
MR cholangiography – Non-invasive examination of the pancreatic duct of the pancreas and bile ducts (intrahepatic and extrahepatic ducts), allowing detailed study of the hepatobiliary system (HBS) and pancreas. The use of contrast material facilitates the diagnosis of functional disorders of the examined organs. Magnetic resonance cholangiography is prescribed for suspected cancer, formation of cysts, stones, or ductal developmental anomalies.
• For 3 days before the examination, exclude vegetables, legumes, fruits, dairy products, carbonated drinks, black bread, pasta, confectionery, and coffee from your diet.
You can consume porridge, broth, boiled meat, fish, chicken, cheese, butter.
• For 3 days before the examination, you need to take “Espumizan” (1 capsule 3 times a day)
• 3 hours before the examination, you need to take 3 tablets of “No-shpa” 40 mg each. If “No-shpa” is not tolerated, take 2 tablets of “Duspatalin” or “Buscopan”.
• The procedure is conducted strictly on an empty stomach or no earlier than 6 hours after eating. • Refrain from consuming any liquids, smoking, and chewing gum for 3 hours before the examination.
• Empty the bladder before the examination.
How to prepare for an MRI of the pelvic organs or rectum in our centre?
- After a colonoscopy, an MRI of the rectum is scheduled in 5-7 days.
- Three days before the examination, exclude vegetables, fruits, dairy products, carbonated drinks, and bread from your diet. You may consume porridge, broth, boiled meat, fish, chicken, cheese, butter, and cookies.
- For 3 days before the examination, take “Espumizan” tablets (1 capsule 3 times a day).
- Bowel preparation: 1 day before the examination, gentle micro enemas (Microlax) should be used. If a colostomy is present, cleansing enemas are used to clean the disconnected section of the intestine. The enema nozzle should be placed at the opening of the disconnected section, and after bowel movement, a cleansing enema should be administered into the rectum until the water is clear. You must bring a spare ostomy bag.
- 3 hours before the examination, take 3 tablets of “No-Spa” 40 mg each. If “No-Spa” is not tolerated, take 2 tablets of “Duspatalin” or “Buscopan”. Before the examination, empty the bladder.
How to prepare for an MRI of the bladderin our centre?
- After a cystoscopy, an MRI of the bladder is scheduled in 5-7 days.
- The last meal should be 2-3 hours before the examination.
- 3 hours before the examination, take 3 tablets of “No-Spa” 40 mg each. If “No-Spa” is not tolerated, take 2 tablets of “Duspatalin” or “Buscopan”.
- Collect urine: 1 hour before the examination, drink 400-500 ml of non-carbonated drinking water.

How to prepare for an MRI of the pelvic organs (prostate, uterus, and ovaries) and MR-phlebography (MRI of the pelvic veins) in our centre?
- performed on the 7th-12th day of the menstrual cycle, strictly after menstruation. If necessary, the study can be conducted in the second phase of the cycle.
